Marketing your small business.

Marketing a small business is different from marketing a large to medium size business.  It requires a natural approach that allows business owners to connect with potential  customers.

Your 'branding' (a very buzzy term that intimidates many small business owners) can go well beyond your colours, fonts and templates.  Your branding is you.  A trend that corporate can not tap into, but you, the small business owner can!

Marketing your small business involves everything from posting on social channels, to paid ads.  It's the white noise you make in the background of your business to drive traffic to your business and build interest in it, and you.

If creating white noise is not for you because you are struggling with creative initiatives, or marketing is not your strongest area of expertise, then focus on personal communications.  Stay closely connected to each one of your clients and customers on a personal level.  People love to support who they know and who they believe it.

The basic principles of marketing have always been product, price, place and promotion.  The evolution of digital marketing has changed this principle almost entirely.  Now businesses need to include any innovative approach that can potentially generate revenue.  From collaborations, to consistent communications from every digital touch point.  It can be complicated and convoluted, but with the help of your imagination you can find ways to disrupt your industry and try new methods and old methods to grow revenue.

If you are a solopreneur who knows nothing about marketing, disregard the intimidating buzz words.  Just chase your customers any way you can in the most cost effective way.  That is really what marketing is.
